When Sony officially announced the coming Xperia S during the CES earlier this month, it mentioned that the phone would arrive for sale sometime in March. That much seemed backed-up by retailers who shortly thereafter started listing the phone for availability in early March. The release plans seemed pretty straightforward, until Play.com posted that it expected stocks of the handset to arrive on January 30. That clearly hasn’t happened, so just what’s the current state of the Xperia S?
Despite reports that the retailer supposedly confirmed that January date, and that it wasn’t just some glitch, Play.com has now revised its Xperia S page to reflect the same early March date as everyone else. Coolsmartphone reached-out to Sony in the hopes to get some clarification on the matter, and was told that nothing had changed since its original announcement that March is and always has been when the manufacturer planned to release the phone. Wherever Play.com got its early release info, it apparently wasn’t from Sony.
So, we still have a small bit of a wait on our hands, but hopefully it will be worth it; with innovative features like speed charging and stain resistance, we’re anxious to see the Xperia S finally arrive.
