According to recent reports coming from China, Sony is planning on building its next Xperia smartphone using a 4.3-inch AMOLED display. So far, Xperia smartphones powered by Google’s Android platform have been equipped with TFT displays.
China Times reports that AU Optronics (AUO) will be shipping said displays to Sony in the second half of the year, after ramping up production starting the second quarter. These components are said to have a pixel density of 250-300 PPI, which, according to our calculations would use, based on the diagonal, a resolution between qHD and XGA. Whether this will be a good thing or not is really up to the consumers and their preferences.
