It’s time for source code, this time from Sony and for the Xperia S, after recently seeing kernels for HTC devices as well as the Samsung Galaxy S II — given, these were all Ice Cream Sandwich versions of Android.
The Xperia S comes with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread out of the box with an ICS update sometime in the next month (fingers crossed). However, this doesn’t stop Sony from saluting the developers and custom ROM chefs with files they can use to build a kernel. And, while Sony’s at it, they say “this is the first time we publish source code for a product built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 platform”. Thank you, Sony! If you’re a chef or developer you might want to head over to the source link for downloads as well as instructions while the rest are patiently waiting for your release.
