Sony’s mobile division is going through some changes, regardless if we talk about the brand, devices or the company leadership. After the joint-venture with Ericsson (Sony Ericsson) ended and Sony brought its new NXT line of Android smartphones to MWC (Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U), Sony Mobile Communications is now proudly announcing new company leadership.
Effective May 16, Kunimasa Suzuki will take over as President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications and Bert Nordberg, the person currently holding the titles, will step down (becoming Chairman of Sony Mobile Communications’ board). Kunimasa Suzuki will have a very important role to oversee “planning and design of all Sony’s consumer products and services”. “Sony has identified digital imaging, game and mobile as the three core pillars of its electronics business, and smartphones are a cornerstone of this strategy,” said Kunimasa Suzuki, Corporate Executive Officer, Executive Vice President of Sony Corporation.
“He is a strong leader and the right person to oversee Sony Mobile Communications as we establish a new business structure as ‘One Sony’ intended to reinforce and accelerate our overall business management”, said Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Corporation.
