There was word at the beginning of summer that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 might see an Android 2.2 Froyo update in the “Coming Weeks” and we all know the outcome and last month we heard that the X10 line-up, including the minis, will get an Eclair update which has already started rolling out.
Meanwhile XDA Developers have managed to get stock Android 2.2 Froyo on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and while functionality is not complete, it’s a big step in the right direction as they were struggling with some technical issues (namely bootloader) that got in the way. Video playback, phone dial out loop, BW camera and Codecs are so far on the “Not Working” list. Currently in Alpha, the developers are expecting a Beta version to be released soon and while we don’t encourage custom ROMs, it’s up to you if you want to give it a try or not.
