According to a Verizon Sony Ericsson product manager, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play should make its way to the carrier’s portfolio of smartphones around the middle of next month.
The information was handed out at a Verizon pre CTIA party along with bits implying that the smartphone could be ditching its TimeScape UI and maybe ship with Madden 11 game instead of FIFA 10. All this is to be filed, at the moment, under the “R” category but we know that Verizon is prepping the device since the beginning of February when Wirefly has posted a comparison chart clearly stating that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android gaming handset will be coming to Verizon.
As a reminder, the device sports a 1 GHz Scorpion ARMv7 single-core CPU, 400MB of RAM, 8GB memory on a microSD card. It’s quite thick at 16mm, 4-inch FWVGA (480 x 854) screen and 5.1-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash.
