It’s been just over a month since Sony Ericsson officially announced the Xperia Neo, joining phones like the Xperia Pro and Xperia Play as the next wave of Xperia models. The Android handset just made its requisite FCC appearance, giving us a trove of phone manuals, diagnostics, and a few new pics.

The Neo should be notable as being one of the more affordable new models coming out with Gingerbread, featuring a 3.7-inch FWVGA screen, eight-megapixel main camera (two-megapixel front-facing) and 1GHz Snapdragon. The phone will launch in Europe at the end of March for around $600; expect to see that drop way down if and when the phone makes it to the US on subsidy.

We’ve heard that SE wants to introduce at least nine smartphones in the US this year, so the Neo is presumably going to be among them. We’re used to seeing the international version of these phones hit the FCC first (as was the case with the Xperia Play), and the Neo is no exception. The agency certified it for GSM usage, but the phone’s 3G bands are of the European variety. There’s a good chance we’ll see a Neo with US flavors show up eventually, but today is not that day.
