For the third time this week, Sony Ericsson has posted another teaser image of a smartphone it plans to reveal at next week’s CES. The first picture to go up seemed to be full of subtle clues, which when taken together started to give off a very Windows Phone vibe. Next, we got a very close-up look at an upcoming Sony Ericsson Android, focusing on its camera capabilities. The latest shot gives us a nice, clear look at its featured handset (or the back of it, at least), which may be some hardware we’re not yet familiar with.
Of the handful of Sony Ericsson smartphones we’re expecting in the near future, we’ve only had the opportunity to get much of a look at the one that’s been called the Nozomi, or the Xperia Arc HD. We noted earlier this week when looking at those camera close-ups that the pictured hardware didn’t seem to match the Nozomi, with the absence of an LED flash (or, more likely, its relocation to elsewhere on the phone’s back) we’ve seen on the actual hardware. That trend continues today, as we can clearly see this model’s off-center image sensor, instead of the Nozomi’s along the phone’s center line.
This image was posted to Sony Ericsson’s German Facebook page, along with a note that promises the revelation of at least one new Xperia device next week. Just how many might there be, after all? With any luck, we’ll get our answer early next week, as the CES gets ready to roll.
Update: Well that was a mean trick, Sony Ericsson Germany. Apparently the image isn’t anything new at all, but from an old Xperia Arc campaign.
