Gamers are already well familiar with Sony’s PlayStation Store, the company’s digital distribution system for games and media across its line of consoles and handheld devices. When Sony released the Xperia S, as a PlayStation-certified device, it should have also had access to the PlayStation Store. However, Sony was unable to get things ready in time for the phone’s release, and ended up forced to ship it without the software. After a short wait, the store’s finally arriving for the Xperia S, bringing PlayStation games along with it.
There’s been a holder space in the Xperia S’s app drawer, just waiting for the PlayStation Store to arrive. As of now, you can click through that link to download and install the store. If you haven’t already created one on another platform, you’ll have to set up an account with Sony, as the store’s transactions occur independently of Google Play. To that end, you also have to enable non-Market installs (Google’s going to have to update that language) in your phone’s settings.
For the moment, there aren’t many gaming options available through the PlayStation Store, though the number of titles promises to grow as more and more PlayStation certified handsets arrive.
