There are certainly good reasons why developers choose to release apps with functionality limited to just a few Android devices. Testing everything might be an untenable goal, and the developer may just want to assure that a limited group can fully enjoy the app, rather than see a larger group struggle with compatibility issues. Sometimes, though, we just want to get our hands on one, device restrictions be damned. Skype just introduced a new version of its Android app that added video call support for a number of devices. If yours wasn’t among them, you’re in luck, as a cracked version has already been released that should run on additional phones.

This version was released with the Samsung Galaxy S2 in mind, but it’s not limited to just that device. It’s too early for exhaustive testing to have been done, but the APK is reportedly also working on the HTC EVO 4G, and we’ve heard rumors of success on the Thunderbolt. If you’ve got a decently-powerful Android with a front-facing camera, it might be worth checking out. Let us know if you discover that it’s compatible with additional Androids.
