Samsung may have just given us a little insight into what some of its upcoming Androids could be called, revealing three new names for its Galaxy series while filing for US trademark protection.
We similarly looked at a couple other names Samsung trademarked back in January, Joy and Fresh, but today’s find is a little more interesting, thanks to the presence of that Galaxy name. We’re not sure that necessarily all of these will end up used by Samsung for the names of commercially-released devices, but should Samsung choose to, it may release phones under the names Galaxy Thunder, Galaxy Express, and Galaxy Accelerate.
A trio of Galaxy names has us thinking that these could be the carrier-specific versions of an upcoming Samsung phone – possibly the Galaxy S III?
In addition to its trademark filing for these Galaxy models, Samsung also trademarked the Samsung Wallet. We’ve been hearing plenty about NFC-based payment systems from carriers, sure, but not really from manufacturers; could Samsung be planning a Google Wallet competitor of its own?
