After making its international debut last fall, Samsung’s Galaxy Note has been getting ready to make its mark in more and more nations. At the CES, we saw the over-sized Android getting ready for AT&T, where it will be among the growing number of handsets capable of accessing the carrier’s new LTE network. It sounds like nearly everyone in the US wants a piece of the Note pie, as rumors suggest that Verizon and Sprint have also got their eyes on the Android, and may have designs to launch their versions of the Note as the Galaxy Journal. The US may get plenty of Note options, but what about its neighbor to the north? Canada’s on-track to get the Note, but we’ve been wondering just when that would be. This time, answers come courtesy of Samsung itself, which now advises on its site that the Note should be hitting Canada in mid-February.
While Samsung isn’t more explicit about plans for the phone’s Canadian launch, it may be dropping another hint in the imagery it’s chosen. It’s not a sure-fire indicator, but when there’s a date displayed on a handset like this, we’ve got to consider the possibility that it’s a clue to the release. Considering that February 23 falls just on the edge of Samsung’s “mid-February” claim, this time it looks like a very good possibility for just when the Note will arrive.
Full details on the Galaxy Note’s Canadian launch, including which carriers will offer the handset, should be forthcoming.
