First hearing about the Samsung Replenish on April Fools’ Day didn’t exactly seem like a good omen, especially considering how we had nothing to go on but the phone’s name. It’s now looking like the Replenish is anything but a prank, with internal screenshots from Sprint revealing the phone to be some sort of environmentally-conscious “green” model.
Uncovered by Android Central, the Sprint screen-grabs reveal the company’s URL-management system, and show a request to set up URLs in advance of the Replenish’s arrival. According to the dates attached to the request, a press release is scheduled for next Friday, April 15, in order to formally announce the smartphone. Following that, if these dates are correct, it looks like the phone will be available for sale beginning May 5. These Sprint dates don’t match up with the April 25 launch mentioned in the image we saw last week, however.
We’ll likely have to wait until next week’s press release to learn exactly what makes the Replenish so green, but possibilities range from the mundane, like recycled/minimal packaging or using online vs. printed documentation, up to really useful traits like a power-sipping mode for extended battery life. While far less likely, we could even see some more outlandish but undeniably earth-friendly innovations like a solar-charging back panel. Check back next week to learn just what the Replenish has to offer.
