Recently, most of the rumors we’ve been hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S III have focused on when the manufacturer might take the opportunity to publicly announce the handset. After Samsung finally rejected the possibility of a Mobile World Congress debut, in favor of a separate event scheduled to take place before July, we’ve been wondering just when that might be. Today, some new rumors address when that event might occur, as well as revisit the topic of the Galaxy S III’s hardware configuration.

The Electronic Times News out of South Korea claims to have sources telling it that the Galaxy S III will first go up for sale in May. If that’s to be the case, we might hope to see Samsung announce the handset a few weeks prior, perhaps still during April.

As for the phone’s hardware, these same sources claim it will be among the thinnest around, measuring-in with a thickness under seven millimeters. We don’t hear anything new about the handset’s CPU clock speed today (thought quad-core is once-again mentioned), but do get a revised estimate of its photographic prowess, now supposed to feature only an eight-megapixel main camera and two-megapixel front-facer.
