We recently showed you some press renders of the Samsung SCH-R940, an LTE model codenamed Tikal that’s on-track for MetroPCS LTE. It’s not the only LTE Samsung that the carrier has its eye on, though, at least according to some documents that just hit the FCC, showing the SCH-R920 also getting ready for MetroPCS.
Right now, the Samsung Craft on MetroPCS is the R900, and the Indulge is the R910, but we’ve yet to hear a name for the R920. Information on it is currently very sparse; a rumor dating from October suggested the model would be the carrier’s version of the Samsung Conquer 4G on Sprint, but we now believe that to be the aforementioned R940 Tikal.
So where does that leave us with the R920? For the moment, all we’ve got to go on is that it’s got the frequency support for MetroPCS LTE, and its model number fits with existing Samsung Androids for the carrier. The only other evidence we’ve seen that the phone exists is when its model number showed up in some EXIF data for photos we uncovered several months back. Until we get some new information in the form of a leak – maybe even a MetroPCS roadmap – the R920 will continue to remain a mystery.
