Samsung Infuse 4G Gets Gingerbread In Time For Canadian Release

Samsung’s Infuse 4G landed last month on AT&T, impressing us with its large 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and its slender, lightweight construction. While Samsung did a nice job setting up the smartphone with its Touch Wiz UI, it’s still only running Android 2.2. Gingerbread may be coming soon to the Infuse, though, as Samsung Canada’s website is teasing its coming launch of the smartphone with the news that it will arrive running Android 2.3.

The Infuse is set to show up in the Great White North sometime this summer. Chances are good that, if it doesn’t even arrive well in advance, a Gingerbread update for the existing population of Infuses will be release around the same time. As of now, we haven’t heard anything from Samsung that could help us narrow down either of those windows past the general setting of “summer”, but we could end up learning more as we get closer to the smartphone’s Canadian release.

To see how the current Infuse 4G is performing with Froyo behind the scenes, check out our extensive hardware and software review.
