With the Mobile World Congress now a fresh memory, smartphone companies are already moving on to the next opportunities to show-off their gear, whether that’s at CeBIT in Germany or at the upcoming SXSW festival in Texas. Samsung’s definitely going to be making an appearance at the latter, putting a special focus on promoting the Galaxy Note. In its press release announcing its presence at the festival, Samsung revealed it has a “special announcement” it will make this Friday, March 9, at 4:00pm. Just what could Samsung be up to?
Despite what many of you may be wishing, we’re not going to see the Galaxy S III; Samsung’s been trying to put that fire out over and over for the past couple months, to the point where it seems attached to every Samsung event that gets mentioned. We’ve still got a little bit of a wait left before Samsung’s finally ready for its announcement, though.
What else then? Samsung is all about the Note in the rest of its statement, so maybe we’re looking at something up that line. We’ve been awaiting news of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Note, especially with the recent Angry Birds Space teaser promising a “Galactic Upgrade” on the way. Maybe it could be something about the Note 10.1 tablet, the pink Note, or news of the Note coming to another carrier; we’ll be sure to update you Friday afternoon when we finally learn the truth.
