Despite having yet to be launched by Verizon, Best Buy has begun selling the long-rumored Samsung Gem Froyo Eclair-powered slate. It’s asking just $30 for the 800MHz handset on two-year contract, with shipping said to occur in three to five business days. At this point, months after it was first spotted and weeks after smaller, regional carriers have begun selling their own versions, Verizon’s Gem can certainly be considered overdue — although its 3.2-inch WQVGA screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and full complement of radios still make it an attractive offer at such a low price point.
With the phone literally available to buy from third-party retailers, we have to imagine that VZW will make it official in days, if not hours, so look for an announcement shortly.
