Samsung has launched the Galaxy S II follow-up to the popular Galaxy S with the occasion of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and we’ve had our hands-on time with the smartphone.
Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Galaxy S II is operated by (most probably) Samsung’s own Exynos processor and packs a 4.27-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, eight-megapixel camera with 1080p video capture plus 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.
The handset is available for pre-order over at Clove.co.uk, going for £612 (approximately $988) for the 16GB model and £708 (roughly $1,142) for the 32GB model. Both devices are expected to be in stock and deliverable in the second quarter so if you want to secure a unit and make sure you’re among the first ones to have it, you can pre-order. While pricing is yet to be confirmed, this should give an early, rough, indication on how much you should prepare to spend for an unlocked Galaxy S II. Beware, it’s not cheap!
Update: Clove now reports that both the 16GB and 32GB versions are expected to arrive in stock in the second half of March.
