Here’s the story once again: Samsung initially said that there will be no official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S phone. Then the manufacturer backtracked and said it was still reviewing the viability of updating the Galaxy S in response to strong customer demand.
According to recent reports, Samsung has returned to the initial statement. The Galaxy S looks like it’s not going to get an ICS update after all; instead, it will be blessed with a Value Pack which will enhance its functionality. What does that mean? New widgets, probably a skin, improved web browsing, multi-tasking, all in order to bring the experience as close as possible to Ice Cream Sandwich.
To make a short comparison, HTC initially said that there will be no Gingerbread update for the Desire, then they backtracked, then they back-backtracked again and finally the phone got it’s Gingerbread treat. HTC removed some applications to make place for the new system and still deliver HTC Sense. Do you think it would have been the proper approach for the Galaxy S too?
