The Samsung Galaxy S II has passed FCC after being unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress. We had our hands-on with the device codenamed GT-I9100, the follow-up to the uber-popular Samsung Galaxy S.

The lightweight Super AMOLED Plus device codenamed GT-I9100 has passed FCC with AT&T bands (850/1900Mhz GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA) but it’s not a guarantee that it will get to AT&T – or if yes, maybe with another codename. Also, as we noted, Samsung manufactures two versions of the Galaxy S II, both with Tegra2 and its own Exynos SOC. Judging by the model number (9100), it is the Exynos 4210 CPU version aided by the Mali-400 MP GPU (the Tegra2 version is codenamed 9103).

Besides the 1GHz dual-core processor, the Galaxy S II packs a 4.27-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, an eight-megapixel camera with 1080p video capture and a two-megapixel front-facing webcam. It is powered by Google’s latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform.
