The almost one year old Samsung Galaxy S II is scheduled by the manufacturer to receive an official upgrade to Android 4.x Ice Cream Sandwich sometime this quarter. However, if you do not wish to wait that long you can try your luck with this latest official ROM leak.
The OS version is Android 4.0.3 and TouchWiz on top of it has some improvements (like the ring unlock a la ICS on the lock screen instead of swipe-off image plus some new effects while flipping through home screens). The firmware build is I9100XXLPB and is relatively fresh: January 29.
We’ve gave it a quick run on our own European Galaxy S II and it looks stable, smooth and fast, with no obvious bugs (but we need some more time with it). If you feel adventurous, head over to the source link and download the ROM file (of course, insert usual word of warning here).
