The Samsung Galaxy S II is among the batch of high-end devices that have a promised upgrade to the newest version of Android (ICS) from the OEM. While you’ll find ports of Android Ice Cream Sandwich for almost every Android device thanks to the source code released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), most of these ROMs aren’t 100% in terms of functionality and optimization.

It appears as if the official Android 4.0 ROM for the Galaxy S II is making the rounds, though it’s still a beta. The ROM includes Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, so at first glance, it appears as if nothing has changed. It’s once you dive into menus and settings that you can start to see Ice Cream Sandwich show its colors.

The ROM is available to download from the source link, though given the list of bugs, you might want to wait a bit longer until some of the kinks are worked out.
