Samsung’s Galaxy S II, as we know it, is powered by an Exynos processor and has the model number GT-I9100. For a while now, we’ve been aware that Samsung is planning other revision of the Android smartphone with differing CPUs; model GT-I9103 is supposed to run NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 platform, instead. Now it seems that there could be even more versions of the phone in store for us, with new evidence emerging in support of a GT-I9101 model.

Samsung Mobile Singapore posted some specs from the I9101 on its Facebook page, and while they don’t out and say just what chipset the smartphone is running, there are plenty of hints. The GPU, for example, is a PowerVR SGX540, and we know the main CPU runs the ARM v7 instruction set. One contender for the SoC that fits the bill: Texas Instruments’s OMAP4430, the same chip behind the LG Optimus 3D. There could be other differences between the I9101 and the I9100; we don’t know anything about the former’s screen type, nor its NFC capabilities. What we’re really interested in seeing, is how all these different Galaxy S II models hold up to each other performance-wise, but we could still have a bit of a wait on our hands, and we don’t even know what Samsung’s plans are for bringing the I9100 to market.
