There was a real drama regarding the Ice Cream Sandwich update (or, to be more specific, the lack of) for the original Samsung Galaxy S and the manufacturer officially told the world that there will be a Value Pack instead of ICS, which later got leaked.
The said Value Pack is now live for the Samsung Galaxy S (also for the Galaxy K and Galaxy U) in South Korea and it brings some Ice Cream Sandwich features to the phone, without the updated platform. Face recognition is there for Face Unlock, the ability to snap pictures while recording, and some Launcher features and improvements (such as adding a folder).
