Samsung promised an official Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note along with a Premium Suite that should be landing in the second quarter of the year. While you’re waiting for that, there’s a leak of what appears to be an in-development Samsung official ROM.
The leak is for the SGH-I717, meaning it’s the AT&T variant of the “phablet” and it is rather strange that we’re seeing a carrier variant get a leak before the unlocked international version (or should we say finally?). Heading over to the source link you are able to download an executable file which is really a one-click “installer” (with Oding and the ROM image).
Initial feedback is rather good, with TouchWiz (yes, it’s there) crashing at first boot and after Google Play Store installation. Other than that, reports indicate Ice Cream Sandwich is working relatively smooth and so does Samsung’s own user interface. Unfortunately there’s no “Premium Suite” bundled. If you understand the risk, click on the source link and get started.
