Earlier this week, we saw Samsung finally start the official Ice Cream Sandwich update distribution for its Galaxy S II Android. This update has been a long time coming, after Samsung confirmed back in early December that the GS2 would be among the first of its phones to see ICS, planning the release for sometime in Q1 2012. The GS2 may have hit that target, but at the time Samsung also committed to delivering Android 4.0 to its Galaxy Note before the end of the quarter, as well. We’re starting to run out of time, and according to at least one Samsung regional division, ICS for the Note may be on-hold until Q2.

Samsung Norway responded to an owner’s question about ICS on the Note via Facebook, saying that the update won’t be available until Q2, and that it had no more specific information than that. Sure, it’s possible that we might see Samsung release the update in another market prior to the end of Q1, but it’s probably more likely that, if what Samsung Norway wrote is accurate, we’re all just going to have to wait a little longer.

Some of the early promotions for Rovio’s Angry Birds Space, set to launch on the Note on March 20, mentioned a “galactic upgrade” the Note would be receiving. We wondered if maybe we might see Samsung release ICS for the phone around the same time, but that’s looking less likely now.
