It was just about a year ago when we learned about Samsung’s Galaxy Mini, first hearing some rumors about it in mid-January, followed by Samsung officially revealing the handset. Today we get the chance to check out Samsung’s follow-up effort, thanks to a leak featuring the Galaxy Mini 2.
According to this info, the Galaxy Mini 2, AKA “Jena”, will be a slightly-higher spec model than the original Mini. We wouldn’t expect anything less after a full year has past, but it’s reassuring all the same, considering just how very low the Mini’s specs were to start with. The Mini 2 will supposedly move up to an 800MHz processor, get a slightly-larger 3.3-inch display, and double its resolution from the Mini’s QVGA to HVGA. Like the original, we’re still looking at a three-megapixel camera, and the Mini 2 will keep running Gingerbread.
Samsung’s also redesigned the phone’s shell, and it looks a lot more to scale than the first Mini; the screen seems to do a better job at filling the handset’s face, and a flatter line along the phone’s bottom edge gives the appearance of less wasted space.
The leaked Mini 2 image reportedly includes references to February, so there’s a chance we’ll be hearing from Samsung about this guy very soon.
