Today has been nothing if not inundated with rumors of Android updates. The most recent to land on our radar is for another taste of Gingerbread, this time on the Samsung Epic 4G.
We’ve seen Gingerbread for the Epic 4G on Sprint before, with one build leaking a few weeks back for the adventurous among you to try out on your own smartphones (if you don’t just run CM7, that is). That was build EF02; we haven’t heard just what revision this pending OTA update will bring, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Samsung has made a few changes since then.
Unlike most of these rumored updates we hear about, there’s not leaked screenshot or anything to back this claim up, just the word of an anonymous source; treat this with the appropriate amount of skepticism. The source says that the Sprint Gingerbread update for the Epic 4G is supposed to arrive this month, specifically sometime in the last week or so. He also cites issues with bringing TouchWiz to Gingerbread to be at the heart of the delay in getting the code to the Epic 4G. We’ll be on the lookout for confirmation of this news in the weeks to come.
