Samsung Discontinuing AMOLED Screens on Galaxy S, Wave?

Before we go any further, please bear in mind that this isn’t even a real rumor; it’s just our interpretation of a cryptic tweet sent out by uber-blogger Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-review fame. In his short missive, Murtazin advises any of his 11,000+ followers who are “hesitate or wait discount” on the Samsung Galaxy S or Samsung Wave that they “have one or two week to buy.” He goes on to promise more info come next Monday.

Now since Murtazin is a gentleman with particularly good connections in the mobile industry, it is not out of the realm of possibilities that he would be clued in to as big a change as swapping out the highly-touted AMOLED screens on devices selling like hotcakes worldwide.

And the fact that the Bada-powered Wave and Android-powered Galaxy S seem to only share a screen technology between them (along with a Samsung-produced CPU, of course) — one that is in very well known short supply — further suggests that Murtazin is referring to an impending display change. After all, who wants a Super LCD display when they can have a Super AMOLED one instead?

Again, this information is about as far from confirmed as possible, so we’ll simply have to sit back and keep our ear to the ground as next Monday approaches.
