Samsung Announces SCH-W999 Clamshell Android for China

Remember the SCH-W999 clamshell Android phone from Samsung we were telling you about at the end of October? The phone packs not one but two displays that allow the owner to either use the phone as a regular candy-bar or flip it open to reveal keypad.

Samsung made the SCH-W999 official in China via China Telecom. The two screens are identical in side and measure 3.5-inches — pretty much like the iPhone 4(S) — with WVGA resolution and they’re Super AMOLED panels. Under the hood there’s a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm CPU and the platform is Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Samsung’s own TouchWiz on top of it.

The phone has dual SIM slots and can connect to GSM and CDMA2000 networks. The clamshell should see the light of day next year but no official information regarding pricing or availability has been made public. Would you fancy an Android clamshell?
