An upcoming Samsung Android codenamed Hercules has just been uncovered, and judging by the rumored specs, it’s going to go a long way towards living up to its powerful namesake.
Hercules is supposedly destined for T-Mobile, where it could be one of the fastest 4G models around, supporting Category 24 HSDPA for downloads as fast as 42Mbps. Despite the T-Mobile affiliation, Hercules may also carry AT&T bands, giving you more options if you pick up the smartphone unlocked, and keeping it from becoming a casualty of the proposed T-Mobile/AT&T merger.
From a big 4.5-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus screen to a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, these rumored specs are mostly consistent with other high-end Androids we’re anticipating, and sound very Infuse 4G-ish. A higher-resolution display might have been nice, but it doesn’t seem like a deal-breaker. The hardware should include a gigabyte of RAM, 16GB of flash storage, dual cameras with an eight-megapixel main sensor, and an NFC transceiver. As you’d expect, Hercules will likely ship running Gingerbread.
According to the source of this rumor, Hercules is still in Samsung’s hands and won’t be ready for T-Mobile to test it out until June; don’t expect to see it arrive until late summer at the earliest.
