Samsung’s Galaxy S III is currently one of the big mysteries in the smartphone world; we hear it mentioned all the time, but we don’t have much more to go on than some basic rumors about its hardware and ever-shifting estimates for when the phone might be announced, and then finally released. The official word from Samsung is that the company’s still making up its mind about how to launch the handset. We had been hoping to get a chance to see the phone at the Mobile World Congress this year, but even that looks like it won’t be happening anymore. While there’s some talk of delaying the phone’s release until the fall, might we end up getting it sooner than expected? A new rumor is making just such a claim.
Dutch site Mobile Cowboys reports that a source of its claims to have seen a document showing that the Galaxy S III will go up for sale in Turkey on March 13. That’s much sooner than we’ve recently been expecting to see the phone, so we’re being cautious with how much faith we put in this rumor, but if Samsung does end up showing-off the phone at the MWC, the timing for a mid-March launch might seem plausible.
In addition to this Galaxy S III news, the source says that Samsung is planning a Galaxy S II Plus and a Galaxy Note S. He didn’t have any details to provide on these supposed hardware refreshes, but claims that both models are planned for a release later this year, possibly with the aim to get them out right before the holiday season.
