HTC recently announced that it will be rolling out software updates for the HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G, and EVO 3D in order to unlock the bootloader for the phones. These updates should be expected to hit next month.
Yesterday Rogers announced its own HTC EVO 3D — together with the LG Optimus 3D — and is apparently releasing the phone with an unlocked bootloader. The information comes from the comments where it is stated: “Yes, our HTC EVO 3D will have an unlocked bootloader”. Rogers promised the EVO 3D for “this summer” and HTC will roll out the updates in August. Canada might or might not have a jump start on the unlocked bootloader but it’s good to know that the phone will ship like this out of the box.
