With all the handsets that manufacturers have brought together for display at the MWC, we’re learning a lot about what the next generations of smartphones and tablets will have to offer. While we’d heard about a lot of this hardware before, the expo is giving us a chance to flesh-out our knowledge with previously-unknown details. Those are great to have, but even when we get the full picture on the hardware, oftentimes critical launch information isn’t available. Sometimes that means waiting for a carrier to make an announcement, but today we get some insight into the release plans for a couple of new Androids thanks to a retailer, with expected stock dates for some LG and Sony models.
For starters, we’ve got LG’s quad-core Optimus 4X HD. UK retailer Clove reports that, following a meeting with LG personnel, it’s announcing the arrival of the smartphone for June, where it will cost about $600 before taxes. Unfortunately, LG doesn’t seem to have similar plans for its autostereoscopic Optimus 3D Max, which reportedly won’t be coming to the UK (and presumably, the rest of Europe). That’s quite surprising news, but maybe LG just hasn’t finalized plans for global distribution.
When Sony announced the Xperia P and Xperia U, all we learned about release plans was that we’d be seeing the pair sometime in Q2. Clove has now announced that it expects to start shipping both models on April 23. The Xperia P will fetch the equivalent of about $500, while the Xperia U will go for only $315.
All three handsets are now available for pre-order.
