After learning of the pending arrival of a white version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus several months ago, we wondered when users in the United States, with their LTE versions of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, might get the same opportunity. We hadn’t seen anything directly connecting the two, but wondered if the rumors of the upcoming release of a 16GB Galaxy Nexus for Verizon, supposed to arrive on April 5, might somehow be tied to the availability of this white version. Well, we still can’t say for certain when the white GNex might come to the carrier, but there’s finally some evidence for the fact that it will at all, with the discovery of white battery covers bearing Verizon’s badging.
Discovered listed on eBay by a phone components supplier, the white battery covers feature both Verizon’s logo as well as its stylized 4G LTE marking. It might be trivial for some less-than-scrupulous parts supplier to make some unauthorized white covers, but what would the point of that be without the white phones to go with them?
While it’s just the arrival of a 16GB Galaxy Nexus that we’re expecting for Verizon on April 5, if that date does coincide with the availability of the smartphone in white, we’d expect to see the color option also extended to the existing 32GB model. Chances are, we’ll be looking at something like $200 for the 16GB version, on-contract, with the 32GB staying around $300.
