Android has come a long way since it was first announced about three years ago. Today, Android can be found in a wide variety of form factors with different interfaces and skins. It also has vast support from the development community, which has made it competitive with the iPhone in regards to application choice.

Here’s the first video from the Android Talks YouTube channel, posted in November of 2007. You’ve probably seen it before, as it was one of our first glimpses at an early build of Android. The video begins with a message from Google co-founder Sergey Brin, where he describes Android as a “new open-source operating system for mobile phones”, leaving out mention of other devices that could utilize the OS. The subsequent demo is shown on a non-touchscreen phone, of which there are none today that run Android. There was no application tray in the early days of Android, but there was the unique notification system that resides in the top bar.
