Qualcomm has recently categorized its Snapdragons by tier and we’ve heard of the S4 SoC with the same occasion, at the beginning of August. Now the chip maker has made the S4′s features public and they are rather impressive!
Building the S4 with the help of the new 28nm technology, Qualcomm will be able to clock the SoC between 1.5 and 2.5GHz, giving it a 60% boost over 45nm ones. On-board will also be the Adreno 225 GPU which is advertised to be 50% faster than its 220 predecessor.
The S4 will not only reduce battery usage but will be supporting world capabilities with frequencies from 700 to 2600MHz featured. Data speeds will be supported for LTE FDD/TDD (Cat3), 3G (DC-HSPA+ Cat 24), EV-DO Rev. B, 1x Advanced, TD-SCDMA, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE standards. With customer samples being already shipped according to Qualcomm, we can’t wait to see the first phones powered by these chips, hopefully as early as CES or MWC.
