This past Wednesday, Google revealed its Project Glass to the world, finally addressing the rumors that had been circulating of the company working on Android-powered glasses. At the time, the company published several photos of models wearing the Project Glass prototype, which Google seemed to imply was mainly a mock-up made in hopes of getting some design feedback. Progress may be farther along that it let-on, as a PG headset was just spotted out in the wild, worn by none other than Google’s Sergey Brin.

Brin wore the headset to a recent charity event, and thanks to an attendee we’re able to check out some new pics of the device. It wasn’t obvious from the images Google already provided just how thick the transparent eyepiece component of PG really is, containing the optics to bounce images from the side-mounted device into your eye.

Remarkably, the prototype is reportedly functional to some extent, and while we haven’t heard from anyone who’s actually gotten to try it on, lights were seen emanating from the display as Brin wore the model.

In other Project Glass news, there’s been some speculation that Google may release the device under the name Google Eye, based on the discovery of a domain name registration. There are also already rumors of other companies seeking to develop similar products, at least according to industry analysts and what they’ve heard from component suppliers in Asia.
