At this point there’s little mystery left to Sony Ericsson’s so-called “PlayStation Phone” — save for actual game play footage of native titles — so the fact that it just passed through the Bluetooth SIG isn’t really as notable as it could have been. At least we can be sure that the handset, likely branded Xperia Play but known by codename Zeus and model number R800 (both listed on the certificate), will be packing a Bluetooth 2.1+EDR radio, and not 3.0 as Samsung and LG are including in many of their new models.
Expected to debut at next month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, this device has been thoroughly previewed by numerous parties, and even fully disassembled. Apparently we can expect a FWVGA resolution, (not higher, as had been previously suggested), five-megapixel camera, and an Android 2.3 Gingerbread build.
