Carriers in the US offer a few different options from Pantech, but even with what should be some attractive models, like the Burst as one of the few phones available for AT&T’s new LTE service, it’s yet to impress with a really stand-out phone. That’s not to say we haven’t heard of Pantech working on such things (like the Vega LTE, above), but that they rarely make it over to this side of the Pacific. We’re optimistic that we might just get a chance to see the latest Pantech to be discovered, the Snapdragon S4-based IM-A830S .

The IM-A830S shows up this week in some benchmark results, divulging its 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor, the same kind we’ve seen give some impressive performance figures in the past. We’re limited by how much this find reveals about the phone, but it looks like the IM-A830S will have a 720p display. The smartphone will be running the latest Ice Cream Sandwich, and takes full advantage of the upgraded platform by doing away with capacitive buttons.

This model, as tested, appears destined for South Korea, but we hear that there are plans for global availability later on. At the moment, though, there’s no word on just where nor when that might be.
