There’s no doubt that Google’s Android is currently the most popular mobile platform on the market and, if back in June they were recording around 500,000 devices being activated daily, the situation is even better now.
According to Andy Rubin, “there are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day”. He also said that by “activation” he “means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service”. Each device is counted once and “re-sold devices” are not counted. With such an increasing popularity Android might see 1,000,000 device activations per day by June 2012; this also begs the question: where will the curve stop climbing?
