NVIDIA issued a press release today at Mobile World Congress dilvulging the info that Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 10.1 is powered by NVIDIA’s latest mobile CPU, the Tegra 2. Hidden away at the bottom of this press release was a gem of information – Samsung and NVIDIA are also working on a new Android-based “super phone” with a dual core CPU. Directly from the press release:
The companies are also partnering to bring a new Android-based super phone with a dual-core CPU to consumers, for never-before-seen experiences.
There was no information released beyond this, leading to some speculation that the new “super phone” may be based on NVIDIA’s next-generation CPU, the Tegra 2 3D.
The device was not featured at Samsung’s “Unpacked” event at Mobile World Congress, and may be demonstrated at an upcoming event such as CTIA.
