The Nokia N900 is successfully handling Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, after initially it ran Android 2.1 Eclair and even 2.2 Froyo.
The same NITDroid team is behind the Gingerbread Nokia treat way before other legacy Android devices have a chance of running the latest mobile OS. Key functionalities like telephony, WiFi, 3G, sound and other features are reported as working but, as with every port, there are some glitches the team is trying to fix. Their target is to have an experimental release ready before New Year (besides a fully working Android 2.2.1 before Christmas). Will the N900 also run Android Honeycomb?
