Today is the day that was rumored to be bringing the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update to the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G. It was somewhat suspicious that an update would be released on a Sunday, let alone the day after Christmas. Regardless, we got word that not only is the Froyo update not coming today, there is no “firm delivery date”, only a target to have it “available in the near future” — we’re not even going to ask about Gingerbread.
Samsung Epic Software Update (Froyo 2.2 Version) Not Available Yet
Despite what many websites are saying, Android software version Froyo 2.2 is still on hold. If customers ask about this update, explain the following:
– The current Samsung Epic software version is DI18.
- There is no firm delivery date for the Froyo 2.2 software update, but it will be available in the near future
It’s frustrating that one of the more recently released devices is running Android 2.1, which is now two point revisions old. We’ve mentioned it before, but it’s worth bring up again: phones that stray from the stock Android experience seem to have a harder time getting updates to them. Keep that in mind before buying your next Android phone.
