Nexus S 4G Sales Reportedly Active at Some Sprint Stores

Sprint is supposed to start selling the Samsung/Google Nexus S 4G in just a couple days, on this Sunday, May 8. Patience may be a virtue, but if you want to get a head start on some WiMAX-powered Android action, there are reports of numerous customers successfully being able to buy a Nexus S 4G at Sprint stores, as of right now.

Just like the pre-release Droid Charge sales we’ve heard about, success seems to be very hit-or-miss. There’s also a lot of unsubstantiated information out there, so some of the reports on store policies may be the results of misunderstandings or gaps in communication. What we can confirm is that some people have definitely been able to buy these smartphones today.

Supposedly, there’s been some kind of corporate e-mail sent out from on-high at Sprint, authorizing its stores to sell customers the Nexus S 4G before Sunday. They may not be actively promoting the phone, but supposedly would let you buy one were you to ask. Forum posters who decided to do a little detective work and call around to local stores report mixed confirmation of this rumor, with some stores saying they’d be happy to sell the Nexus S 4G, and others disavowing knowledge of any e-mail and sticking to their Sunday-launch guns.

If you want one now, you’ll just have to try your luck, but there’s a decent chance you may be able to walk away with a brand new Nexus S 4G of your very own.
