By now, we’ve heard plenty of theories about just what Samsung’s planning for its May 3 London event. New smartphone hardware is what everyone’s expecting, but there also might be some talk of Samsung’s new cloud storage services. We’ve also mentioned the possibility of hearing some more about what’s going on with the company’s tablets, after a flurry of rumors claimed some hardware changes were in the process of being made, despite the company previously announcing different specs. That’s the alley we find ourselves back up tonight, with a new and confusing Samsung tablet rumor.
According to a source which CNET describes as being “familiar with the matter”, we’ll see a new Galaxy Tab model debuted at the May 3 event. The odd thing, though, is that despite all the hardware we’ve heard about so far, including the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, this is supposed to be another model altogether, though also a 10.1-inch device. That sounds kind of hard to believe, but the idea that Samsung would already have two very similar 10.1-inchers in the pipes sounds just as wonky, yet we know it to be true.
Unlike all the quad-core upgrades we’ve been hearing about, this Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 would supposedly be a dual-core model, which actually makes it sound more like the tablet as it was originally announced. At this point, we’d love to hear something out of Samsung, if only to add some clarity to the situation.
