Last year, once Netflix for Android finally arrived, updates were largely about compatibility with new devices. After Netflix let the floodgates loose, we’ve instead been seeing a series of smaller updates, focusing on fixing bugs, tweaking features, and even adding-in some new functionality, like the Facebook sharing now available in certain countries. Tonight, we’ve got another one of these minor Netflix updates starting to go out, full of fixes and UI improvements.

The UI changes don’t really affect app functionality, but if you’ve got chubby fingers and struggled a bit with the app’s settings, Netflix is introducing a new large slider for volume control during playback. You’ll also find quick access to subtitle settings, if all the volume in the world isn’t helping.

Netflix says this release includes changes to improve app stability, as well as squash extant bugs. There’s not a more detailed changelog available, but based on anecdotal reports, some Motorola users who were running into issues when streaming in the past have noticed big improvements with this release.

Netflix 1.7.1 is available in the Google Play store now.
