Remember the world’s thinnest smartphone? No, not the Samsung Galaxy S II but the NEC Medias N-04C which beats the Samsung’s 8.49mm by its own 7.7mm. According to recent reports, NEC Casio is planning on bringing the phone to America.

At the moment, you can only grab a NEC Medias in Japan if you are a NTT DoCoMo subscriber but this is about to change. According to Japan’s number one business daily, The Nikkei, Verizon will be the one carrying the NEC Medias Android phone in America, due to its past experience and collaboration with Casio products. Selling close to half-million units in Japan to date (it was launched back in February), the four-incher Android has a great chance to succeed in the U.S. market.

The NEC Medias features a 4-inch screen with 480 x 854 resolution, runs Android 2.2 (with possibility to upgrade to version 2.3), five-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and the usual suspects. Not sure Japanese market specifics, like e-wallet function, IrDa and TV Tuner will make it to America though.
