Best Buy is really proving itself to be a font of rumors lately. Earlier today we looked at an email attributed to Best Buy which seemed to reveal the planned release date for the HTC One X on AT&T. Now we move from Windows Phone to Android-land, with a new source out of Best Buy suggesting that a few Verizon handsets are about to see the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich next week.
A little while back, we looked at a leaked ICS ROM that had become available for the HTC Rezound, showing progress since an earlier ROM that made it seem like the finished update was nearly ready-to-go. According to this Best Buy source, that’s because it’s true, and we’ll see the phone’s update start going out OTA on Verizon on April 6.
In addition to that HTC model, the internal Best Buy news posting that revealed the Rezound’s update also mentions that a little earlier in the week, on April 4, Ice Cream Sandwich will be arriving for the Motorola Droid RAZR. This should cover both the RAZR and RAZR Maxx, as the phones use identical software.
If this rumor plays out, that’s three names down from the list of phones and tablets to which Verizon’s committed delivering Android 4.0; still quite a few to go.
